Attorney Brendan Appel named Leading Lawyer in Illinois

Attorney Brendan R. Appel, a founding partner at North Shore Property Law, has been recognized as a Leading Lawyer in the areas of Residential Real Estate Law, Commercial Real Estate Law, and Association and Condominium Real Estate Law. This recognition is earned by fewer than 5 percent of all lawyers licensed to practice in Illinois.

Attorneys from throughout Illinois vote to honor their peers in this way; awards are given by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin’s digital resource, LeadingLawyers.com.

“I am humbled and honored to be recognized by my peers as a Leading Lawyer in the areas of law in which I truly enjoy practicing.  There is no more satisfying a legal result than when everyone walks away from a closing table happy,” Mr. Appel said.

Real estate law is his specialty

Since his 2000 graduation from the DePaul University College of Law with honors, Mr. Appel has practiced law at some of Chicago’s top law firms. He is a founding partner at North Shore Property Law, a Northfield, IL-based boutique firm equipped to handle all areas of real estate law on Chicago’s North Shore: residential and commercial transactions, condominium law, builder/developer services, litigation and property tax appeals.

Mr. Appel concentrates in both residential and commercial real estate transactions, and real estate litigation. He has been admitted in Cook County litigation as an expert witness in real estate litigation, and has also served as Vice President and General Counsel to a local title company. Further, he has authored – and lectured upon – several Continuing Legal Education chapters on real estate law, and recently spoke at a DePaul University College of Law symposium on commercial real estate law in Chicago.

Mr. Appel devotes significant time to several Pro Bono litigation and counseling matters. In particular, he has assisted clients of the Center for Disability and Elder Law, where Mr. Appel served as a Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) fellow.
